toxinz™ Privacy Statement

This Privacy Statement relates to:

  • any organisation, institution or individual that has taken a subscription for toxinz™, either from Otago Innovation Limited (OIL) directly, or through a distributor or reseller authorised by OIL (the Subscriber); and

  • any person who has been specifically authorised by the Subscriber to access toxinz™ and use its services (the Authorised User).

 

toxinz™ will respect your privacy at all times. This Privacy Statement describes what personal information or data we collect, and how we use, store and disclose the personal information we collect.

By providing your personal information or using our products/services, you agree to this Privacy Statement. If you provide information about any other person, then you must be authorised by that person to provide such data to us. Please read our Privacy Statement carefully.

This Privacy Statement may change at any time, and we will tell you about any changes by posting an updated policy on our website. These changes will take effect from the date we post it, so please ensure you review our Privacy Statement from time to time. By using our products/services/websites, you will be accepting these changes

 

Collection and use of personal information

toxinz™ records information about the Subscriber when they subscribe to the database, and from the Subscriber and any Authorised Users when they access and use the toxinz™ online poisons information database.

Where practicable all personal information is obtained directly from you, or from your nominated agents. However, we may also obtain information about you through your general interactions with us and through your use of our services. If all or any part of the requested information is not provided, users may not be able to access toxinz™’s services.

The information collected is of two types:

1) Automatically captured data - this includes, but is not limited to:

    • The operating system used;

    • Browser type and version;

    • Geographical location;

    • Device identifiers;

    • The date and time that the user visited the site;

    • The pages visited;

    • Google Captcha telemetry (to determine if a legitimate user is submitting a form)

    • Cookie identifiers and similar tracking technologies to track the activity on our database for reporting purposes.

toxinz™ collects this information in order to assess the way in which data is utilised by users on the toxinz™ database and in order to inform further development of the database. However, this data is not linked to and cannot be used to identify an individual user or subscriber. Accordingly, toxinz™ does not consider the above ‘personal information’ under the Privacy Act 2020.

 

2) User supplied information

User supplied information may include the Subscriber’s name, email address and postal address so that they may subscribe to the toxinz™ database. We may also collect the Subscriber’s billing information; and email communications with us.

In accordance with this Privacy Statement, we may use your personal information for any one or more of the following purposes, to pursue our “legitimate interests” as follows:

    • to provide, administer and communicate with you on our products and services;

    • for system administration functions;

    • to enforce our terms and conditions;

    • to respond to queries, complaints or to provide you with our general customer service;

    • to generate statistical information and reports on the use of our database.

 

Accuracy of personal information

toxinz™ will take all reasonable steps to ensure that personal information is accurate, up to date, complete and relevant.

 

Security of personal information

Personal information will be stored on secure cloud-based servers and toxinz™ will take all reasonable steps to keep personal information safe and secure, and to ensure that it is protected against loss or unauthorised access, modification, use or disclosure.

 

Disclosure of personal information

Staff members within toxinz™ will have access to personal information for purposes relevant to normal toxinz™ operations.

Personal information will not be disclosed to third parties without your consent, unless the use is within the scope of the purposes for which the information was collected.

toxinz™ works with third parties to provide web services, such as website hosting and maintenance. Website visitor information may be shared with these third parties to the extent necessary for them to provide these services. This information will not include personally identifiable data such as names or addresses but it may include the pages you accessed, and the date and time you visited our database.

If you want to check information that we hold about you, please contact us via the contact form on the website.  We will ask you to provide evidence that you are in fact the person whose information you are requesting, or that you are entitled to this information.

If you believe any information we hold about you is incorrect you can ask us to correct it.

toxinz™ may utilise “cookies” to help you personalize your online experience. A cookie is a text file that is placed on your hard disk and can be accessed by a web page server when you visit our site or view an advertisement.
